The last three weeks at Paul Cluver winery have been a blast. We are blown away by the hospitality of South Africans. The Cluver family and other people that work here have invited us to do something almost every day (when we’re not working) and night. Outside of work, the highlights have been surfing twice in Hermanus with Jacqueline and Craig, breiing (BBQing) on multiple occasions with the winemaker Andries and Jacqueline and Craig and their family, going to Cape Town with Paul and his wife Alex and having an 8 course tasting menu at Aubergine, one of the top 10 restaurants in Africa (we tried abalone for the first time, yum – thanks Paul!), going to church with Cluvers in Elgin, going to the top of Table Mountain with Paul and his agent from Chicago, meeting up with Kezia again and going to the Green Market Square in Cape Town, going to two concerts at The Paul Cluver outdoor amphitheater, mountain biking all over their property (it’s 6,000 acres with miles and miles of mountain biking tracks), and swimming in their lake. We will post pictures of these things over the next few weeks, but for now we want to show you what we have been up to in the cellar now that harvest has begun. Enjoy!
